person preparing rum drink

To celebrate this year’s Vitamin C Day, here are five easy Simon Difford recipes for citrus-infused cocktail recipes, because… why not? 😉

These familiar go-to drinks are sure to be a hit and are easy enough for newbie mixers. Let’s start with a recipe for the classic Margarita.

Margarita

Make this crowd-pleasing drink with just three main ingredients:

  • 2 shots of Don Julio tequila
  • 1 shot cointreau triple sec
  • 1 shot freshly squeezed lime juice

Shake these cocktail ingredients with ice and fine-strain into a chilled, salt-rimmed glass and a lime wedge. Salut!

Daiquiri

Simply shake these ingredients with ice and fine-strain into a chilled glass with a lime wedge:

  • 2.5 shots Bacardi Superior rum
  • 3/4 shot freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 shot sugar syrup (2 parts sugar is to 1 part water)

Mojito

This drink is so refreshing! You can’t go wrong with a mojito for a boho, cottagecore garden party.

To make a mojito, start by gathering these ingredients:

  • 12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 shots Bacardi Superior rum
  • 3/4 shot freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 shot sugar syrup (2:1 sugar-water ratio)
  • Topped with soda water / club soda
  • Crushed ice

Step 1: Lightly bruise the mint at the base of the glass.

Step 2: Add the rum, lime juice and sugar.

Step 3: Half-fill the glass with crushed ice and give it a little whisk with a spoon. Fill the glass up with more crushed ice and mix again.

Step 4: Top it with soda, a sprig of mint and a sipping straw.

Voila! There you have your herbalicious, citrusy mojito.

Blue Wave

Here’s a tropical holiday-inspired drink to get excited about. Before you kick your feet up with this colorful drink in hand, you’ll need these ingredients:

  • 1 shot dry gin
  • 1 shot Bacardi light rum
  • 1/2 shot blue curacao liqueur
  • 3 shots pressed pineapple juice
  • 1 and 3/4 shot freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 shot sugar syrup (2:1 sugar-water ratio)

Shake all these ingredients with ice, strain and pour into an ice-filled glass. Garnish the glass with a pineapple wedge for the ultimate tropical feel.

White Sangria

By now, shaking cocktails is probably our fave arm exercise by far. Mix these up with ice in a shaker for a white sangria cocktail recipe:

  • 1 shot Grand Marnier liquer
  • 2 shots Sauvignon Blanc wine
  • 1 shot Ocean Spray white cranberry

Strain/pour into an ice-filled glass. Then top it off with lemonade or clear soda, and garnish the drink with fruit slices.

These cocktails are perfect with savory or even sweet side dishes, like cupcakes! Check out this review article on some delectable cupcakes.
